Understanding the Need

Dementia Care Is Different

Needs can change from day to day. Familiar routines may stop working, communication can become harder and family caregivers may need reliable relief.

Better Choice Care LLC provides scheduled, non-medical support for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Each visit is guided by the written service plan and shaped around the client’s routines, preferences and current support needs.

Our role is to support daily living, comfort and engagement during scheduled visits while keeping the family informed of non-clinical observations.

Familiar Surroundings

Why Home May Feel More Comfortable

Remaining in a familiar setting can preserve recognizable routines, meaningful belongings and everyday connections.

Familiarity Still Matters

A person living with dementia may continue to recognize a favorite chair, a familiar hallway, family photographs or the rhythm of a long-established routine. Scheduled support at home can build on those familiar cues without requiring the person to learn an entirely new environment.

  • Familiar rooms, belongings and daily cues remain nearby
  • Established routines can be followed when appropriate
  • One-to-one support is provided during scheduled visits
  • Family visits can continue on the family’s own schedule
  • Activities can reflect the client’s interests and history
  • Visit frequency may be adjusted as needs change, subject to availability
How We Help

What Dementia Support Can Include

Care focuses on consistency, respectful communication and practical help with familiar daily routines.

Consistent Routines

Following the written service plan and using familiar sequences, times and cues when practical.

Calm Communication

Using patience, reassurance and gentle redirection instead of arguing or repeatedly correcting.

Meaningful Activities

Music, photographs, simple household activities and other interests appropriate to the client.

Meal and Household Support

Preparing simple meals, tidying and supporting everyday household routines included in the plan.

Personal Care Assistance

Non-medical help with dressing, grooming, bathing or mobility when included in the service plan.

Family Updates

Sharing non-clinical observations about routines or changes according to the communication plan.

Our non-medical scope: Caregivers follow the written service plan, observe the home environment and report concerns according to agency procedures. They do not diagnose, conduct clinical assessments, provide medical advice, administer or manage medication, provide nursing care, install safety equipment or act as care managers. Better Choice Care LLC is not an emergency response service.

When It May Help

When Scheduled Dementia Support May Be Useful

These situations do not determine a diagnosis. They may simply indicate that the family would benefit from additional non-medical support.

  • Daily routines are becoming harder to follow consistently
  • A family caregiver needs scheduled relief or time for other responsibilities
  • The client would benefit from more companionship and engagement
  • Meal preparation or light household routines need more support
  • Respectful reminders and redirection are becoming more important
  • The family wants consistent updates about non-clinical observations

We prepare the written service plan and arrange caregiver visits based on fit and availability.

Family Support

You Do Not Have to Carry Every Routine Alone

Family caregivers often come to us feeling tired and uncertain. Scheduled visits can provide dependable relief while helping the client maintain familiar daily routines. Our caregivers share non-clinical observations according to the communication plan. We do not provide clinical assessments, medical advice or care management. If needs exceed our scope, we notify the family so they can consult an appropriate licensed healthcare professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Dementia Home Care

What dementia care services does Better Choice Care LLC provide?
We provide scheduled, non-medical assistance with daily routines, companionship, meaningful activities, simple meal preparation, light housekeeping and personal care when included in the written service plan. Services are based on the client’s needs and our ability to serve them safely within our non-medical scope.
Are caregivers specifically trained for dementia care?
Caregiver experience, preparation and fit are reviewed during the matching process. Ask during your consultation about the qualifications and role-specific preparation applicable to the caregiver being considered. We do not describe a caregiver as dementia-certified unless the credential is current and documented.
Will my loved one always receive the same caregiver?
We prioritize caregiver consistency because familiar faces and routines can matter. Assignment depends on caregiver fit, scheduling and availability, so we cannot guarantee that the same caregiver will attend every visit.
Can a caregiver administer or manage medication?
No. Better Choice Care LLC is a non-medical agency. Caregivers do not administer medication, determine dosage, organize medication or provide medical advice. Any permitted non-medical reminder must be addressed in the written service plan.
Can caregivers prevent wandering or respond to an emergency?
Caregivers follow the written service plan during scheduled visits, use respectful redirection and report concerns according to agency procedures. We do not conduct clinical wandering-risk assessments, guarantee prevention or provide emergency response services. Call 911 for a medical or immediate safety emergency.
Do you provide overnight or live-in dementia care?
No. Better Choice Care LLC provides scheduled non-medical visits and does not offer overnight or live-in care.
What areas do you serve?
We serve clients in San Diego County. Availability depends on the requested schedule, care needs and service address. Visit our Areas We Serve page or call us to confirm current availability.
How do we get started?
Call (858) 422-4242 or request a free consultation. We will learn about your family’s needs, explain available non-medical services and discuss the next step if scheduled care appears appropriate.
